Using Exclusion Funnels on Groundhogs
Groundhogs are a menace – there is no doubt about that. However, trapping them or getting a professional involved is not always the best option. Whether due to cost or because you do not want to risk going near the animal, you want some other method. Exclusion funnels are a popular alternative. These give you the chance to remove the groundhog without having to spend a lot of money or go anywhere near it. Exclusion funnels are cheap and easy to use, and they can work exceptionally well when employed properly. As long as you know what to do, you can get rid of this groundhog safely and easily. Follow the steps below and you should be fine. Remember to look at the instructions for your specific funnel, too, to see what their guidance and use are.
Find Where to Place It
You want to know where you are going to place the exclusion tunnel. It has to be at the end of one of the groundhog's own tunnels and you have to know exactly which one you are going to use. When you put down the tunnel, you are going to want to make sure the groundhog only uses that tunnel. The way to do this is to remove all the other tunnels around. When the groundhog only has that one tunnel available to them, they have no choice but to use it. Make sure you choose a good tunnel and remove the others thoroughly. Without the other tunnels, the groundhog will go through and be out of there.
Place the Exclusion Tunnel
Placing the exclusion tunnel is easy. Merely put the tunnel down where you have chosen and let the groundhog do the rest. Make sure you have the right size for exclusion tunnel, too. If it is too big or too small, it is not going to work well. Either the groundhog cannot get out or it can get back inside. When the groundhog finally leaves, you can remove the exclusion tunnel and cover up the rest of the hole. You can then add some barriers to reduce the risk of the groundhog coming back. Using exclusion tunnels is somewhat easy to do. That is why they are so popular, combined with them being so effective. If you want the groundhog gone, this is one of the best methods available. Use it properly and the groundhog will get out and not have a way to go back.
